Work placement Host Organisation
Work placement Host Organisation
If you are hosting Leonardo Mobility participants on work placements who are nationals from outside the EU and European Economic Area (EEA) countries or Switzerland, then they will require a Tier 5 Certificate of Support and UK visa.
You will need to support your in-coming Leonardo participants in their visa sponsorship process and during their work placement.
Before their placement starts
Initially you will need to support them in applying for their Tier 5 Certificate of Sponsorship from Ecorys. To do this you will be asked to complete a Letter of Support that will be used to support their application.
Once the participants receive this certificate, they will then be able to apply for a temporary UK visa from the UK Border Agency.
Please note, obtaining a Tier 5 Certificate of Support does not guarantee that a UK visa will be granted.
Once the placement starts
When your Leonardo participant starts their placement in the UK, there are some important tasks that you must carry out.
Send Ecorys a photocopy of participant's passport
Although Ecorys already has photocopies of some of the sections of the participant’s passport, we need you to supply us with a copy of any page containing UK Government endorsements indicating that the holder has an entitlement to be in the UK and is entitled to undertake the work in question.
You must photocopy the participant's passport and fax/email it to Ecorys within two working days of the start of the participant's work placement.
Ecorys, as the sponsoring organisation, is legally obliged to the UK Border Agency to obtain and retain a photocopy of the participant's passport, as part of the sponsorship application process.
Reporting Incidents
As the Host Organisation for the work placement you have a duty to report on any Leonardo programme participant incidents. To do this, please use the Incident Report Template.
You can e-mail these document to tier5@uk.ecorys.com (the e-mail should contain the participant's name) or fax it to +44 121 212 8899 marked for the attention of Helen Metcalfe, Tier 5.
Help and guidance.
To help you we have created a guide which details your role and responsibilities to participants prior and during their work placement. You can find guidance on your duties and responsibilities in Work Placement Host Organisation Guide.

Intermediary Organisations
Intermediary Organisations
Some projects involve an 'Intermediary Organisation' in the UK. The intermediary can be the contracting or Host Organisation but it isn’t the organisation where the work placement is undertaken. The Intermediary Organisation does not host the participant's work placement.
The role of the Intermediary Organisation varies between projects but it normally includes activities such as finding a work placement organisation, arranging accommodation and local transport.
As an Intermediary Organisation, you do not have any formal responsibilities under the UK Border Agency's Points Based System (PBS).
