Transfer of Innovation
Transfer of Innovation (TOI) funding is designed to help you adapt existing innovative practice for use in new settings, through working with transnational partners.
TOI projects aim to:
- adapt innovative content (including from previous projects);
- produce tangible products;
- transfer the results to new contexts (e.g. target groups, sectors, countries); and
- integrate the lessons learned into vocational education and training systems at regional, national or European level or into sectoral training systems and practices or into companies.
Dissemination and exploitation of results is a key feature of TOI projects. It is also important that you involve your target groups and ultimate beneficiaries in developing and delivering your project.
A good application form should also clearly demonstrate the impact on target groups, VET systems and practices. It should also clearly explain how the sustainability of the project activities and results will be ensured.
Key information
- The next deadline to apply for Transfer of Innovation will be February 2011
- You will need at least 3 partners in 3 different participating countries to apply.
- You can use Preparatory Visits funding to meet partners for your project.
- Projects last for up to 2 years.
- The co-ordinating partner must apply to their National Agency and will be responsible for the funding for all partners.
- Partners must contribute at least 25% of the total project budget.

You may wish to receive feedback on your project idea. To do this you will need to submit a Project Outline Form, which can be found on the right hand side of this page. Once completed, please return this form to the National Agency at leonardo@ecotec.com and a member of the Transfer of Innovation team will contact you to discuss your idea.
Funding information
Applicants can request up to €150,000 per year for their ToI project. The Leonardo programme will provide up to 75% of the total project budget; partners must provide at least 25% of the budget as match funding.
