New measures announced to help small employers take on apprentices
5 September 2012The Government will raise awareness of the value of apprenticeships for small and medium enterprises as well as making support more accessible and simpler when taking on an apprentice.
A report commissioned by the Education and Business Secretaries to advise on what could be done to help SMEs take on apprentices has been recently published. John Holt, a jeweller and social entrepreneur, commissioned to complete the report has found a lack of awareness among small businesses on this issue and a lack of knowledge in recruiting and training apprentices.
New measures announced by the Government will include an improvement to the apprenticeship grant for employers as well as enabling SMEs to get their apprentices the training they need.
