Find Partners

Find Partners

Putting together a good partnership is probably the most important thing you can do for your project*.

All your partners must come from a country that is participating in the Lifelong Learning Programme. The Leonardo programme is open to organisations from the following countries:

  • the 27 EU Member States (Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom).
  • the 3 European Economic Area countries (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway).
  • the Candidate Countries Turkey, Croatia and FYR Macedonia**.
  • Overseas countries and territories (Greenland, New Caledonia and Dependencies, French Polynesia, French Southern and Antarctic Territories, Wallis and Futuna Islands, Mayotte, St Pierre and Miquelon, Aruba, Netherlands Antilles, Pitcairn, Saint Helena, Ascension Island, Turks and Caicos Islands).

*As an organisation from the UK or a British Overseas Territory you cannot use your UK Leonardo grant to cover expenditure for placements in the UK or a British Overseas Territory. British Overseas Territories include Anguilla, the Cayman Islands, the Falkland Islands, South Georgia and the the South Sandwich Islands, Monteserrat, Tristan da Cunha, British Antarctic Territory, British Indian Ocean Territory and the British Virgin Islands.

**Turkey is a full participant in the Lifelong Learning Programme. Croatia and FYR Macedonia currently only participate in certain activities. If you are interested in working with partners in Croatia or FYR Macedonia please contact the helpline for details on 0845 199 2929.

Finding Partners

Here are some ways to find project partners.

1. Partner Search Databases

The Partner Search Database is available at www.leonardo.org.uk/partnersearch. Why not see if you can find your ideal partner?

2. Contact Seminars

Attending a Contact Seminar is a great way to find partners, make contacts and develop project ideas to submit for Leonardo funding. A list of 2010 Contact Seminars will shortly be available in our Events section.

We can help you access funding to attend these events and meet a wide variety of organisations interested in collaborating in Leonardo projects.

3. Using existing links

Many UK organisations already have European links through networking bodies, partnerships or work contacts. Using partners already known by your organisation means you can rely on a pre-existing relationship to add commitment to the partnership. So why not talk to your colleagues to see who they know?

4. Go on a Preparatory Visit

Preparatory Visits are intended to help UK organisations find new European partners or meet prospective partners to discuss future Leonardo grant applications. Funding is for organisations who want to apply for a Mobility, Partnerships or Transfer of Innovation project grant.
